About the position

The Quality Engineer position at Multimatic involves ensuring the implementation and maintenance of quality systems within the manufacturing process. The role serves as a technical liaison between manufacturing and quality departments, focusing on resolving quality issues, evaluating engineering designs, and maintaining high-quality standards throughout production. The engineer will also lead customer support efforts, conduct audits, and provide training to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical liaison services between manufacturing and quality on all matters relating to quality systems, procedures, and processes.
  • Responsible for identifying, tracking, and resolving all quality problems.
  • Evaluate and develop quality requirements and maintain technological advancements.
  • Review engineering designs to ensure first-time capability with superior part quality.
  • Organize and direct interaction of all customer complaints and navigate customer portals.
  • Review prints and specifications to ensure quality reliability requirements and track engineering changes.
  • Review and evaluate Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, and acceptance sampling.
  • Provide Manufacturing and Engineering with Metrology information.
  • Assist and train Quality Assurance personnel to ensure acceptable quality performance.
  • Train quality and manufacturing personnel on new and existing equipment.
  • Provide capability studies and process potential studies using Minitab.
  • Coordinate with company management for quality problem resolutions.
  • Participate in customer, external, and internal quality audits.
  • Review safety and critical characteristics with engineering to agree on specifications.
  • Lead inspectors and technicians in performing annual capability studies.
  • Lead technical customer support and service for assigned accounts.
  • Develop IATF cascading documents such as process flows and FMEAs.
  • Support quality hold area and disposition non-conforming material.
  • Follow up with customers on product trials and corrective actions.
  • Use Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor dimensional variation.
  • Lead prototype efforts to meet customer requirements and develop PPAPs on new and modified products.
  • Assist the quality manager in developing and maintaining the Quality System.
  • Monitor and assist manufacturing in process control and development.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the quality system and its daily application.
  • Experience in quality assurance implementation and maintenance.
  • Ability to evaluate engineering designs for quality assurance.
  • Experience in leading customer problem-solving efforts.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IATF standards and documentation.
  • Familiarity with customer complaint management systems.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior quality personnel.
