About the position

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supervising plant quality functions and coordinating Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities. This role involves maintaining quality standards, implementing control plans, and ensuring compliance with customer quality requirements. The Quality Engineer will also work closely with suppliers to address quality issues and develop corrective actions to improve processes within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises plant quality functions and coordinates APQP functions.
  • Participates in APQP meetings and coordinates the review of the Production Tooling Progress Report.
  • Creates and maintains control plans, work/inspection instructions, local procedures, and visual aids/samples.
  • Prepares sample submissions for PPAP Packages and supervises the retention of PPAP samples.
  • Assists in maintaining IATF-16949 certification and meeting customer quality requirements.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains programs to improve quality processes within the facility.
  • Communicates with customers through their internal systems and conducts pro-active plant visits.
  • Acts as Quality Department liaison with suppliers to investigate quality problems and provide resources regarding product quality.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions (8-D) for internal quality and delivery problems.
  • Applies statistical analysis and concepts to the manufacturing process.
  • Completes dimensional layouts using lab equipment as necessary.
  • Works with the Assembly Lead to oversee the Firewall/Reinspect area and ensures I-charts on boards weekly.
  • Assists in making dimensional and/or mechanical inspections and tests of assemblies and sub-assemblies to ensure conformance with quality standards.
  • Creates programs and operates CMM, mounting, installing, aligning, and securing tools and fixtures on the CMM machine.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in an appropriate technical field from a four-year college or university.
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control (S.P.C.), measurement systems, Basic Metrology, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
