About the position

The Quality Engineer at Vulcan is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and improving quality control processes for existing product lines. This role involves creating quality standards, ensuring compliance, and resolving issues from design through production, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the manufacturing of cooking products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quality standards, metrics, and warranty goals for all parts, products, and manufacturing procedures
  • Monitor the entire product cycle and perform regular testing to ensure conformity with quality standards
  • Provide root cause analysis and technical support to the production team, sales, and service as required
  • Support Purchasing in the establishment of suppliers and ongoing supplier product quality
  • Initiate requests for corrective action and implementation as required
  • Issue and support engineering documentation including drawings, work instructions, quality alerts, and customer manuals
  • Drive continuous improvement projects related to improving quality and reliability
  • Support reliability and FMEA requirements during development as well as coordinate product reliability/life testing
  • Ensure products comply with existing safety, sanitation, and energy requirements as well as upcoming changes to state and federal regulations
  • Foster a collaborative culture of total quality management
  • Lead ongoing evaluation of warranty metrics and opportunities to improve product quality, reliability, and warranty reduction

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality or Engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in manufacturing operations (e.g., food & beverage, textiles, automotive, electronics, etc.)
  • Ability to problem solve, lead, communicate, and execute engineering initiatives
  • Comfortable working with cross functional teams including operations, purchasing, and technical service
  • In-depth understanding of metal fabrication processes, manufacturing, and aftermarket technical support
  • Familiarity with the construction of gas-fired and/or electrical cooking appliances.
