About the position

The Quality Engineer at Federal Mogul Powertrain is responsible for ensuring that quality systems are effectively implemented and maintained to meet customer expectations. This role involves active participation in quality planning, root cause analysis, and communication with customers regarding quality-related issues. The engineer will also lead cross-functional teams to address quality problems and promote quality awareness throughout the manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) for products and processes in assigned areas.
  • Regulate and update process control documents in assigned areas, including Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Inspection Plans.
  • Act as a customer liaison, communicating containment and corrective actions using applicable methods.
  • Coordinate special containment activities at customer sites and follow up on results until permanent corrective action validation.
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional teams to identify root causes of internal and external problems and conduct corrective action follow-ups.
  • Perform root-cause analysis using statistical problem-solving methods to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Communicate quality-related issues to plant personnel and promote quality awareness throughout the facility.
  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) and analyze quarantined material disposition.
  • Write and update standard operational procedures related to Quality Assurance and Measurement Systems.
  • Review customer-specific websites to identify and report discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Provide training to employees to improve Quality Operating System (QOS).
  • Participate in Internal, Customer, and ISO TS/16949 Audits.
  • Develop and maintain Layered Process Audits (LPA) and Error-Proofing Validation (EPV) lists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in quality engineering or a related role in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards, including ISO 14001 and TS/16949.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in statistical methods such as D.O.E., ANOVA, and Regression Analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) methodologies.
  • Certification in quality engineering (e.g., CQE, CQA).
