About the position

The Quality Engineering Manager at Armor Works Enterprises is responsible for overseeing quality engineering operations related to assigned programs and product lines. This role involves managing a team of quality engineers, ensuring adherence to quality standards in manufacturing processes, and fostering customer satisfaction through effective quality management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day quality engineering operations including task assignments and productivity.
  • Direct leadership for a team of quality engineers and other roles as assigned.
  • Approve weekly payroll and leave time requests.
  • Develop goals and objectives for the quality team.
  • Evaluate direct report performance in regular reviews.
  • Ensure effective interface with customers, suppliers, and internal functions to resolve quality issues.
  • Function as Quality Subject Matter Expert for assigned programs and product lines.
  • Provide leadership and training to employees on quality assurance concepts and tools.
  • Participate or lead internal process audits in support of the Quality Management System.
  • Foster the use of the corrective action process and implement permanent corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field.
  • At least ten years of Quality Assurance experience, with five years in a management role.
  • Background in metal fabrication, welding, machining, composite manufacturing, or assembly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of formal quality tools such as Ishikawa Diagram, Control Charts, and Root Cause/Corrective Action.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/specifications.
  • Hands-on inspection experience beneficial, with comprehension of GD&T applications.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, CAD, QA Software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to correlate statistical data to process, product, and material properties.
  • Ability to employ statistical analysis techniques such as hypothesis testing and capability analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001:2015/AS9100D, AS9102 FAIs, AIAG, and PPAPs.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASQ certification is a plus.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.
