About the position

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing current production programs for the North America Business Unit at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. This role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction and managing quality assurance strategies. The manager will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service performance and conduct on-site reviews to identify areas for improvement in quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive NABU objectives and resource development for improving production and warranty targets.
  • Communicate with customer quality representatives to address reported issues.
  • Support management in supervising and measuring individual objectives of the QE staff.
  • Lead participation of QA NABU and manufacturing teams in meetings to identify manufacturing risks and hazards.
  • Encourage QA teams to implement systemic countermeasures for customer claims to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Conduct audits in manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to quality control plans.
  • Support the APQP product realization process and its linkage to warranty and production functions.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring yearly budgets for QA functions.
  • Manage KPI report outs in monthly coordination meetings and other necessary reports.
  • Lead first level escalation to resolve issues with QA MFG, QA NABU, PD, and PM managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in engineering, including 2-4 years in a middle management supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of automotive OEM structure.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing manager role, preferably in quality systems for the automotive industry.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with proficiency in presentations to all levels of management.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Proficient in standard MS Office applications and automotive OEM web applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in quality management within the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with APQP processes and quality control plans.
