About the position

The Quality Improvement Analyst & OPPE Manager at the University of Maryland Medical System is responsible for overseeing and developing OPPE indicators that align provider performance data with accreditation standards and system goals. This role involves evaluating compliance data, collaborating with leadership to enhance patient outcomes, and leading quality improvement projects to foster a culture of safety and high reliability within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop OPPE indicators that align provider performance data with The Joint Commission accreditation standards and system goals.
  • Evaluate assessment and documentation data for compliance with governing bodies and identify provider trends that put patients and the organization at risk.
  • Assist with validation of OPPE data reported on departmental and provider scorecards.
  • Oversee and assist with bi-annual OPPE evaluations, reports, and OPPE Scorecard with department Chief.
  • Collaborate with Quality Management Department Leadership and staff to collect, review, analyze, and prepare data reports related to quality improvement and professional practice.
  • Identify trends that may impact patient care and/or the hospital's financial performance.
  • Work with the Director of Quality Management to develop strategies that enhance patient outcomes and optimize the hospital's ranking within Vizient's Quality and Accountability dashboard.
  • Provide a systematic approach to identify, measure, monitor, and evaluate quality improvement activities.
  • Lead and manage special quality improvement projects, identifying resources and project management requirements.
  • Actively participate in key hospital quality improvement committees, teams, and projects.
  • Meet regularly with Physicians to determine department and hospital quality focus priorities and review data.
  • Develop newsletters for education that foster an understanding of quality improvement.
  • Responsible for data management related to quality-based reimbursement and patient safety indicators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional experience performing quality measurements or related experience required.
  • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies.
  • Advanced skill in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all levels of leadership, staff, and vendors.
  • Advanced customer service skills.
  • Advanced skill in presenting findings and information clearly and concisely.
  • Advanced analytical, quantitative, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced public speaking and facilitation skills to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members.
