About the position

The Quality Inspector role is responsible for conducting inspections of products to ensure compliance with various standards, including consumer, commercial, military, and aerospace requirements. This position involves using metrology equipment and techniques to assess incoming materials, in-process items, and final products. The inspector will report on compliance and nonconformity, maintain records, and support quality management systems while adhering to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections to ensure conformity to electronic or paper drawings and/or specifications.
  • Perform dimensional, visual, and procedural checks and tests of finished products, subassemblies, and component parts.
  • Identify quality and production issues, isolate and control nonconformities, and determine root causes.
  • Notify supervisors of inspection failures and specification issues.
  • Make decisions regarding the use, rework, or scrapping of damaged components or products.
  • Calibrate measuring and monitoring equipment and testing devices.
  • Maintain daily production records and other required reports.
  • Complete formal internal quality assurance audits per ISO procedures.
  • Support Pelican's Quality Objectives and contribute to the Quality Management System.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills including binary operations and decimal/fraction conversions.
  • Ability to read and record measurements with precision and accuracy.
  • Ability to learn and use various measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and report results accurately.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and in various production areas.
  • Effective communication skills with vendors, contractors, and employees.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-3 years' experience in quality or a related field, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings at a basic level.
  • Functional computer skills including Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Ability to operate industrial trucks, including forklifts and man lifts.
