About the position

The Quality Lead position at CHEP is responsible for overseeing all safety, environmental, and quality initiatives within the plant. This role involves performing quality audits, implementing safety and environmental standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulations. The Quality Lead will also train and develop team members, manage safety documentation, and drive continuous improvement efforts within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant and personnel operate within CHEP safety guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Manage and execute all GAP (CHEP safety program) strategies and initiatives.
  • Track performance on quality and safety, reporting to supervisors and management.
  • Train and develop team members to meet corporate safety, environmental, and quality guidelines.
  • Maintain all safety documents for plant personnel.
  • Perform safety, quality, and sanitation audits and report results.
  • Lead safety committee and address pending safety or environmental concerns.
  • Develop and lead group projects targeting safety systems and manufacturing improvements.
  • Coordinate with team leads and hiring agencies to fill open positions and pre-screen candidates.
  • Perform orientation training and walkthroughs for all new hires.
  • Drive continuous improvement at the plant and strengthen internal policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Four-year college degree or 3-5 years relevant experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Production/Manufacturing/Shipping or Logistics.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations and training production employees.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word are mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of quality control program implementation.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean Manufacturing experience is desired.
  • Knowledge of local air and storm water regulations is preferred.
  • Managing hazardous and regulated wastes knowledge is preferred.
