About the position
The Quality Management Analyst 3 performs primary data abstraction duties for the 13 Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) Registries and ensures high levels of abstraction accuracy for assigned accounts via validation activities for UHealth. This role requires strong communication, documentation, organizing, and planning skills to ensure effective leadership of multiple accounts concurrently. The analyst will perform data abstraction, validation, and analysis, ensuring an effective feedback loop for continuous performance improvement focused on the Vascular service line. The position involves establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with Vascular service line teams, hospital leadership, and quality leadership to facilitate appropriate data management, timely and accurate reporting of data and outcomes, and accurate benchmarking of outcome initiatives. The analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with nationally recognized patient care processes and clinical outcomes, functioning well under timeline commitments, and serving as auxiliary support for the Patient Quality Team.
Responsibilities
- Perform data abstraction, validation, and analysis.
- Ensure an effective feedback loop for continuous performance improvement focused on the Vascular service line.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with Vascular service line teams, hospital leadership, and quality leadership.
- Facilitate appropriate data management and timely reporting of data and outcomes.
- Provide immediate feedback for assigned quality initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with national patient care processes and clinical outcomes.
- Conduct highly complex analysis and lead the design, planning, and production of reports related to quality performance metrics.
- Participate in strategic planning and conduct problem analysis for senior management.
- Perform measurement and benchmarking of performance measures.
- Provide performance indicator reports and benchmark narratives.
- Monitor quality performance and make recommendations for process improvement projects.
- Prepare overviews and interpretations of reports.
- Assist with training departmental Quality champions on governmental program requirements.
- Solve data integrity issues and monitor new data and reporting systems.
- Act as a liaison with third-party vendors of specialized business intelligence products.
- Contact regulatory agencies to research and clarify program rules.
- Manage healthcare quality program departmental calendar.
- Assist with preparation of audit responses related to governmental program submissions.
- Serve as a reliable resource to hospital staff, physicians, and patients on data analysis matters.
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relative experience.
- Experience abstracting VQI Registries within the last 2 years is preferred.
- Clinical experience with vascular care and disease management is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical records, billing/documentation practices, and standard healthcare quality concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Maintains a strict level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrates a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Required experience supporting clinical quality or process improvement initiatives in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality and outcomes measurement and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of related diseases.
