About the position

Dart Container is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Manager II to join their leadership team in Dallas, TX. This role is pivotal in ensuring the implementation of Dart's quality system within the facility, focusing on achieving efficiencies in quality, safety, and service. The Quality Manager will lead initiatives to provide safe products that comply with laws and regulations, meet company quality standards, and fulfill customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and promote practices and processes for safe product compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate leadership to achieve goals in Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency, and Employee Development.
  • Monitor KPIs to anticipate and correct trends that may compromise targets.
  • Lead by example to encourage employee commitment to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the quality system and lead the development of an 'audit ready' philosophy.
  • Serve as the plant lead for all audit activities and enforce corporate quality assurance procedures.
  • Analyze nonconforming materials and complaint data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Exert leadership to address root causes of failures and monitor the effectiveness of actions taken.
  • Serve as a technical expert for quality assurance and process improvement tools.
  • Ensure maintenance of quality and product safety certifications.
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Develop procedures, work instructions, and visual standards to drive improvement.
  • Consult with third-party agencies and external customers regarding quality audits and certification inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of quality-related experience with increased scope and responsibility.
  • Five years of supervisory experience with strong leadership and management skills.
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication and training.
  • Demonstrated mastery in quality methods, procedures, and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and approachability.
  • Ability to develop new ideas and solutions using business sense and creativity.
  • Logical reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office for creating reports and presentations.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles for planning and resource allocation.
  • Ability to train employees on technology and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for influencing decision-making.
  • Experience with statistical and quality methodologies such as SPC, SQC, FMEA, and DOE.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Math skills including algebra and statistics.
  • Advanced knowledge of products, materials, and production processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to obtain and maintain formal certifications such as ASQ Certified Engineer or Certified Quality Manager.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing multi-shift or continuous operations.
  • Experience in paper converting, chemical/plastics processing, and packaging.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
