About the position

The Quality Manager at Actalent is responsible for implementing and promoting food safety standards and ensuring compliance with various regulatory guidelines in a food manufacturing environment. This role involves overseeing quality program planning, lab management, and providing training to the quality team. The Quality Manager will also collaborate with other departments to improve product quality and safety, while maintaining a safe working environment for all quality employees.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, execute and promote food safety of products through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Ensure compliance with FDA cGMP, ISO 9001, EXCiPACT, and BRC standards.
  • Direct quality program planning and coordination to meet customer specifications.
  • Manage laboratory operations and support the QA/QC Supervisor.
  • Provide ongoing training to the quality team in quality techniques and tools.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for quality employees.
  • Communicate facility quality performance to management and staff.
  • Coordinate development, maintenance, and validation of test methods.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining product specifications.
  • Support engineering and technology teams for new product developments.
  • Maintain Lab QMS System (LX-400) databases.
  • Research and set up new instrumentation within budget.
  • Propose and review quality control Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results for internal trending.
  • Provide backup support for QA and QC Coordinators as needed.
  • Collaborate with departments for project leadership in quality improvement and cost savings.
  • Work with plant leadership to ensure project outcomes meet quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Food Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a similar field.
  • Five years of experience in quality and/or regulatory leadership in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with food safety/quality programs including ISO 9001, HACCP, GMPs, and SPC.
  • Exposure to Continuous Improvement programs such as Six Sigma, TQM, or Kaizen.
