About the position

The Quality Manager at Georgia-Pacific's Savannah River Mill in Rincon, Georgia, is responsible for leading quality performance improvements for both finished product converting lines and paper machines. This role requires a strong subject matter expert in quality management, capable of coaching and guiding teams to enhance quality performance. The position involves significant communication and change management skills, representing the mill in interactions with customers and corporate functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer quality strategies and processes to meet business and customer needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a quality management process that provides a competitive advantage.
  • Manage a voice of the customer process to collect and process feedback for understanding customer needs.
  • Manage the mill's product specifications and lead the product stewardship program.
  • Conduct product/process analyses and quality process deployments to manage performance risk.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement in base sheet consistency to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Leverage statistical process control for experiments and validation of testing processes.
  • Establish and communicate leading/lagging indicators to measure quality performance.
  • Lead periodic quality reviews with operating departments and track performance against action plans.
  • Supervise and develop a department of quality lab technicians and engineers.
  • Lead customer visits and meetings to instill confidence in product quality.
  • Partner with corporate quality organizations to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience driving measurable improvement in product quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience executing quality processes including change management, CAPA/RCA, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in statistical tools for data analysis to monitor quality performance.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Quality Management.
  • Experience as a quality manager.
  • Experience in statistical process control.
  • Working knowledge of paper and converting operations.
  • Experience coaching and developing others.
