About the position

The Quality Assurance Manager at ALPLA is responsible for overseeing all integrated management system activities at the manufacturing site, ensuring that products meet internal and customer quality and regulatory expectations. This role involves promoting a quality and continuous improvement mindset among plant employees, managing quality-related communications with customers, and ensuring compliance with various quality management system requirements. The position also includes responsibilities for internal and external audits, customer complaint management, and staff training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises all integrated management system (IMS) activities at the manufacturing site.
  • Assists the Plant Manager with quality-related communication to customers.
  • Promotes a quality and continuous improvement mindset in all plant employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all quality management system requirements (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and other standards).
  • Acts as the primary practitioner for the HACCP program and supports additional risk assessment requirements.
  • Prepares and completes internal and external quality and/or food safety audits.
  • Reports monthly on quality and food safety system data as required.
  • Ensures production compliance with all regulatory, internal, and customer product and packaging specifications.
  • Issues customer-mandated compliance documents (e.g., COAs, regulatory statements).
  • Oversees the plant quality control program, including product measurement/testing and data integrity.
  • Manages the performance of quality test equipment and calibration programs.
  • Assists operations in new product and equipment qualification activities.
  • Optimizes and standardizes plant quality documentation.
  • Documents and reports all supplier quality-related issues.
  • Hosts periodic customer visits and manages customer complaint processes.
  • Ensures training and qualification of personnel performing quality testing.
  • Conducts regular quality staff meetings and manages team efficiency.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in a STEM/technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with physical lab testing equipment, including calipers, scales, and digital height gauges.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
  • Proficient with Excel, SPC software, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate to advanced statistical knowledge.
  • Ability to manage customer relations and work well with other departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle a multi-task environment.
