About the position

The Manager of Quality will develop, implement, maintain, and lead the Quality Management System across multiple manufacturing plants and distribution facilities. This role is integral to the plant senior leadership team, focusing on both short and long-term strategies related to quality management. The manager will oversee continuous improvement initiatives and manage a team of quality supervisors and inspectors, ensuring high standards of product quality and compliance with industry certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with operations management, engineering, sales, and dealer-based customers to understand business, quality, and customer needs.
  • Manage the staff of Quality Supervisors and Inspectors, providing performance feedback and mentoring.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operations management on quality objectives and corporate objectives to maximize product quality and minimize costs.
  • Maintain ISO and/or IATF certification for all manufacturing facilities and implement additional quality-related certifications.
  • Identify recurring quality defects and conduct root-cause analysis, implementing corrective actions for process and quality system concerns.
  • Establish and drive quality objectives and strategic initiatives related to the quality system.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality system.
  • Conduct audits, close out audit findings, create audit finding reports, and determine corrective and preventative actions.
  • Resolve customer quality complaints, assign corrective actions, and provide feedback to customers on resolutions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failures and manage corrective and preventative actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, other engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing field required if no degree is held.
  • 7+ years of quality systems experience required, including 1-3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing and assembly environment.
  • Previous ISO 900:2015 / IATF 16949 experience is required.
  • CQU (Certified Quality Engineer) or other ASQ certification preferred.
  • SPC and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automotive Quality Core Tools including APQP, Control Plans, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.
