About the position

The Quality Risk Management and Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for enhancing patient care quality, promoting safety, and reducing medical errors within the healthcare facility. This role involves identifying and analyzing risks associated with patient care and other organizational losses, and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks. The specialist will coordinate activities aimed at minimizing losses and preventing claims against the hospital, thereby ensuring a focus on patient safety and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, investigate, analyze, and evaluate risks associated with patient care and organizational losses.
  • Gather information and perform clinical analysis to identify patterns of patient care events that may lead to sub-optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities to prevent and minimize losses associated with identifiable risks.
  • Assist with planning and directing insurance and liability issues for facility staff, patients, and vendors.
  • Promote patient safety through effective risk management strategies.

Requirements

  • Licensed RN required; BSN preferred.
  • 3-5 years of quality and/or risk management experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • High-level critical thinking and problem resolution skills required.
  • Proficient in computer skills including word processing, graphics, presentation tools, and database programs required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Joint Commission standards and Federal/State laws/regulations required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines required.
  • Excellent presentation skills required.
