About the position

The Quality Technician at Jabil is responsible for ensuring that products meet customer specifications through rigorous inspections of molded parts. This role focuses on identifying non-conforming products, conducting audits, and maintaining compliance with quality standards, thereby playing a crucial part in the overall quality assurance process.

Responsibilities

  • Operate precision quality control equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs, comparators) to assess part quality.
  • Perform and document cosmetic, functional, and dimensional inspections as per the product quality plan.
  • Evaluate product and process acceptability based on sampling results.
  • Authorize the acceptance of conforming materials and rejection of non-conforming lots, ensuring proper segregation and documentation.
  • Conduct startup inspections and audits following documented procedures.
  • Verify packaging requirements and ensure correct identification and maintenance of resin, mold status, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain accurate and neat documentation of inspections using Good Documentation Practices.
  • Notify shift supervisors of non-conforming conditions for corrective action.
  • Segregate non-conforming products to prevent errors and maintain product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with the next shift's quality technician about machine, product, and quality issues.
  • Maintain and log retain samples, and complete necessary forms to transfer finished goods to the warehouse.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including safety, housekeeping (6S), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and clean room protocols.
  • Provide verbal and written reports to supervisors regarding defects found in products.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a science-related field preferred, or a minimum of two years of college education plus two years of relevant experience in the quality field.
  • Experience may substitute for college education (one year of experience equates to one year of college education) if the candidate has basic computer and statistical knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision and maintaining concentration on tasks.
  • Adaptable to changes in priorities with a positive attitude.
  • Legible handwriting and proficiency in using measurement tools for plastic parts.
  • Knowledge of GMP, metrology, blueprint reading, and testing equipment.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including understanding geometric principles such as average and radius.
  • Basic statistical knowledge and personal computer skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to read and understand English.
