About the position

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing quality audits and tests in accordance with established Quality Standards and Procedures. This role involves maintaining records, conducting inspections, and collaborating with engineering and quality teams to ensure product quality and compliance. The technician will also assist in developing inspection procedures, evaluate data, and provide reports on quality findings. This position is critical in ensuring that all products meet the required specifications and quality standards before reaching customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all quality audits and tests and maintain appropriate records in accordance to current Quality Standards and Procedures.
  • Conduct incoming material audits, nonconforming material audits, shipping audits, first piece inspections, and in-process audits.
  • Perform regular calibration on measurement and test equipment, maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
  • Assist Engineering and Quality Teams in developing or modifying inspection procedures and processes.
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Notify operator and/or supervisor immediately if changes are required to meet specifications.
  • Provide assistance on SPC charts to monitor process control and product conformance.
  • Assist operators in understanding charting techniques and quality expectations.
  • Provide customers with documentation when requested and investigate customer-related complaints to determine root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Escalate appropriate documentation to management and recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards.
  • Set-up and perform destructive and nondestructive testing on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Prepare required work instructions and participate on Kaizen teams as required.
  • Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or Associates degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant quality experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • High level of proficiency with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience with FARO or other CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
  • Experience with various quality processes including FMEA, PPAP, FAI, or FPY, Advanced Control Plans.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience with calibration or measuring software, PolyWorks and GAGEpack preferred.
  • Experience with welding inspection and creating Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) preferred.
