About the position

The Quality Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of products produced on a non-woven production line. This position involves sampling, testing, and analyzing materials to maintain compliance with specifications, while also contributing to a safe work environment and achieving key performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Makes subjective determinations based on visual appearance of materials.
  • Performs required testing and reviews testing results to determine compliance with specification limits and retest limits, reporting results to production.
  • Assists with the collection and preparation of micro test samples.
  • Tests and determines the usability of raw materials and releases them accordingly.
  • Assists with trial runs, collaborating with Production, Process Engineering, Product Development, and Sales/Marketing.
  • Maintains records and charts using statistical techniques for analysis.
  • Manipulates data using MS Office software and computer input databases as required.
  • Monitors and calibrates all testing equipment to ensure parameters are set correctly and troubleshoots any non-compliances.
  • Trains fellow team members on testing equipment and procedures.
  • Maintains housekeeping expectations and conducts housekeeping audits, reporting findings.
  • Achieves key performance measures related to safety and quality.
  • Participates in Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement teams.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe manner and complies with all safety rules.
  • Acts as backup to shift technician and microbiologist when necessary.
  • Performs any other duties as required by supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, with some college or advanced experience or training preferred.
  • Two or more years of laboratory experience or six months working in a nonwoven manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent computer skills with high competency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of SAP, APS, and WMS preferred.
