About the position
The Quality Technician II role at Radius Recycling involves monitoring product quality throughout the manufacturing process, conducting tests on samples, and ensuring compliance with industry specifications. The technician will communicate findings to various teams, maintain documentation, and perform routine maintenance on equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of quality control practices and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor product throughout the manufacturing process and retrieve samples for testing.
- Prepare samples for testing by sawing, cutting, grinding, and labeling.
- Examine and test product samples to ensure compliance with ASTM and CSRM specifications.
- Determine sample physical properties including yield, tensile strength, and surface quality.
- Communicate findings to rolling mill crew and management.
- Respond to crew requests for additional testing or inspection.
- Maintain electronic and paper documentation detailing product disposition.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Ensure accuracy of dimensional measuring instruments.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in chemistry or physics or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of equipment and practices related to metallurgy and quality control.
- Strong mathematical aptitude for routine calculations.
- Ability to operate precision measuring instruments and laboratory equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
