About the position

The Quality Technician at MS Metal Solutions is responsible for managing non-conforming materials, verifying rework methods, and training team members on quality inspection techniques. This role involves collaborating with engineering and production teams to analyze product quality and process performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate nonconforming material and work with the team to correct and prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and implement production checksheets, visual standards, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate and manage the metrology/calibration system (internal/external).
  • Assist in compiling ISIR and other elements of the PPAP package as needed.
  • Review and monitor shop floor quality records for proper validation and follow up as necessary.
  • Use MS systems to determine product traceability and coordinate customer and supplier returns.
  • Support leadership in training team members in quality techniques.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with supply partners and customers.
  • Coordinate tagging and identifying material for PPAP, samples, non-conforming, etc.
  • Generate inspection procedures and measurement work instructions, and design inspection solutions.
  • Conduct process audits, product audits, and quality management system internal audits as scheduled.
  • Issue quality alerts and conduct appropriate training.
  • Conduct practical problem-solving with operations.
  • Perform receiving inspection and dock audits as needed.
  • Conduct part verification, physical testing, and develop reports of results for customer requirements.
  • Participate in 8D activities as needed.
  • Participate in PFMEA and Control Plan development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a quality or manufacturing environment is desirable; automotive experience preferred.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automotive quality standards.
  • Familiarity with inspection and measurement techniques.
