About the position

Laepple Automotive US, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join their team in Detroit. This role is crucial for ensuring that the company's automotive components and systems meet the highest quality standards. The Quality Technician will conduct inspections and tests, analyze data, and collaborate with the production team to resolve quality issues, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and tests on products and materials.
  • Analyze test data and identify any deviations from quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production team to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and tests.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures.
  • Assist with training of production team on quality control processes.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Investigate non-conformance occurrences.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials.
  • Support new product development by providing quality input.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to product quality.
  • Provide feedback to management on quality trends and issues.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associates degree in a related field a plus.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of quality control, quality assurance, and inspection experience.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience with internal and external audits.
  • Class-A and surface check experience on stamped/assembled parts.
  • Familiarity with weld integrity testing.
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes and methodologies.
  • Proficient in the use of quality testing equipment (i.e. gauges, calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to read and analyze information.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Process improvement mindset.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and quality control tools and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Desire to work in a team-based, lean manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to travel for training, and as other business needs may dictate.
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift, as well as overtime, as required to meet business requirements.
