About the position

Just Energy is seeking candidates for either a Lead Quantitative Analyst or Quantitative Analyst ‘hybrid' position in our Houston, TX office. The candidate will be required to have an in-depth understanding of the ISO protocols. This role involves using technical knowledge to proficiently build risk models in R or Python for the Risk Management team. The successful candidate will also be expected to effectively communicate with other teams for data gathering requirements and present the results to management. The position requires research into ISO protocols and comprehension of trading activities, translating ISO requirements and business details into comprehensive reports. The analyst will leverage predictive models to optimize collateral requirements and conduct market data analysis for building volatility models, scenario analysis, and stress tests. Additionally, the role involves designing and building complex financial risk models for commodity risk management and liquidity risk management, as well as automating key reports in R/Python. The candidate will also lead key projects independently, showcasing their ability to manage significant responsibilities within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Research ISO protocols and comprehend trading activities.

Requirements

  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in R or Python and SQL.
  • Familiarity with software development practices.
  • Familiarity with related tools available in environments such as Azure DevOps and Power BI.
  • Good code practices such as logging, testing, and documentation.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a quantitative field.
