About the position

The Quantitative Analyst Senior role at USAA involves working within the Enterprise Finance and Risk Modeling Center of Excellence to support model development and governance. This position focuses on applying advanced analytics to assess risks and opportunities, engaging in model validation, and mentoring team members. The analyst will influence modeling strategies and ensure compliance with risk management policies while contributing to the financial security of military members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Applies advanced analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness, translating results into relevant solutions.
  • Engages in model validation and produces model validation reports.
  • Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Translates recommendations into communication materials for peer review and management.
  • Produces advanced analytical material for discussions with cross-functional teams.
  • Provides mentorship to other team members in the peer review process.
  • May produce reports and data visualizations for Executive Leadership and Board(s) with quantitative data.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative subject area or 4 years of related experience in addition to 10 years total experience.
  • 6 years of related quantitative analysis experience or an advanced degree with 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 4 years of proven ability working with complex analytical tools and data.
  • Knowledge of producing and communicating research data related to key business activities.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional team discussions related to risk management.
  • Experience providing guidance to team members related to research and data peer reviews.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience at a large bank developing, implementing, validating, or using financial models.
  • Solid understanding of Generative AI tools.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to modeling, including SR11-7.
  • Experience managing complex projects across multiple lines of business.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience interacting with Senior Leadership.
