About the position

Lord Abbett is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join a respected team of quants focused on enhancing and maintaining proprietary tools for analyzing investment strategies. This role involves working closely with portfolio managers and client services to develop customized solutions for institutional clients, particularly in fixed income, alternatives, equities, and multi-asset class strategies. The analyst will also engage in quantitative analysis of competitor funds and contribute to the management of a derivatives book, making a significant impact on investment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, maintain, improve, and build upon quantitative tools essential to the investment process.
  • Work with the quantitative research team, portfolio managers, and client services to develop customizations of strategies based on client needs.
  • Implement proprietary analytics based on statistics, optimization, risk/return analysis, and client requirements.
  • Present results to investments team stakeholders, client services, and directly to clients.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the group's proprietary infrastructure, generating daily updates of models and analytics.
  • Develop models and tools providing actionable recommendations to improve risk-adjusted returns.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, engineering, finance, economics, etc.).
  • 2-5 years of independent research or developer experience in a quantitative finance or risk management role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with scientific programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R) and version control (Git).
  • Intimate familiarity with programming design, testing, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of scientific data analysis methods (visualization, tidy data, joining data sets, fundamentals of SQL).
  • Experience working with financial data providers (Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, ICE, JPMorgan DataQuery) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both spoken and written.
