About the position

PIMCO is seeking an experienced Quantitative Strategist to join its Alternatives Investment team in Newport Beach. This role focuses on analyzing private investment opportunities in special situations and specialty finance, contributing to the firm's analytical infrastructure through the development of new pricing models and programming code. The ideal candidate will partner with the front office to deploy quantitative techniques in structured finance and credit, working on complex deals in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze private investment opportunities in special situations and specialty finance.
  • Develop new pricing models and programming code/libraries to enhance the firm's analytical infrastructure.
  • Partner with the front office to deploy quantitative techniques for structured finance and credit analysis.
  • Work on complex transactions in banking, asset servicing, insurance/re-insurance, and lending markets.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, science, engineering, statistics, or physics.
  • Strong quantitative skills in financial mathematics, probability, and statistics applied to valuation-pricing models.
  • 4+ years of front office quant experience at a top sell or buy-side firm.
  • Experience with structured finance/credit, credit derivatives, and CDO/CLOs, with strong knowledge of corporate finance.
  • Proficiency in programming, particularly with scripting languages like Python or Slang, with a preference for 4+ years of Python development experience.

  • Self-starter who is accountable and motivated by integrating with the trade floor.
  • Ability to articulate issues and explain concepts to portfolio managers and developers.
