About the position

The Quantitative Research Analyst at State Street Bank and Trust Company plays a pivotal role in the Portfolio and Risk Research team within State Street Global Markets (SSGM). This position is designed for individuals who are eager to take on a hands-on leadership role in the design, development, and deployment of code and data infrastructure that supports the team's research initiatives. The analyst will work closely with senior members from both research and technology teams, gaining valuable experience in quantitative investment techniques while actively participating in the research process. Key responsibilities include designing and developing production code that supports portfolio and risk research across various asset classes. The analyst will also be tasked with architecting and scaling data infrastructure to meet both current and future research needs. This involves advancing the existing codebase and proposing innovative solutions and improvements. Additionally, the analyst will design report templates and analytics for client portfolio analyses, ensuring that the research process is robust and effective in testing quantitative research hypotheses with a focus on practical implementation. The role also encompasses performing back-testing of investment strategies, which includes conducting sensitivity analysis and stress-testing to evaluate the performance of these strategies under different market conditions. The analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable infrastructure, which includes the research code base for model development, centralized data systems, and monitoring tools. Furthermore, liaising with senior stakeholders for production-level implementation is a critical aspect of this position, ensuring that the research outputs are effectively integrated into the broader organizational framework.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop production code to support portfolio and risk research across all asset classes.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mathematical Finance, or a related quantitative field, or its equivalent.
  • 2 years' experience as a Quantitative Analyst or any occupation providing quantitative work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing and developing production code to support portfolio and risk research across all asset classes.
  • Ability to architect and scale data infrastructure to support existing and future research needs.
  • Ability to advance existing codebase and propose new solutions and improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing report templates and analytics for client portfolio analyses.
  • Ability to participate in research process to test quantitative research hypotheses with a focus on practical implementation.
