About the position

The Quantitative User Experience Researcher (Quant UXR) at Google plays a vital role in understanding user needs and behaviors through empirical research methods. This position focuses on designing and executing research to enhance user trust and safety across Google's products. The role involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to inform product design and strategy, ensuring that user experience remains at the forefront of product development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute research about users' trust and safety needs, creating trusted products and platforms.
  • Develop statistical models to analyze data sets and understand user behavior.
  • Develop surveys to assess users' experiences and identify opportunities for improvement in trust and safety.
  • Generate insights into what drives user trust and provide leadership with a well-founded point of view.
  • Partner with researchers to validate and triangulate data from qualitative sources.
  • Define processes for scaling Quantitative User Experience Research.
  • Define quantitative UX goals and metrics in collaboration with UX designers, qualitative UXRs, Engineering, and Product Managers.
  • Collaborate with trust and safety researchers to establish consistent methods for measuring user sentiment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in an applied research setting or a similar role.
  • Experience in programming languages for data manipulation and computational statistics (Python, R, MATLAB, C++, Java, Go) and SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in leading survey design, including question construction, sampling, weighting, and analysis.
  • Experience in data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex data to stakeholders at various levels.
