About the position

This internship position at IBM Quantum is designed for students pursuing degrees in engineering, quantum computing, or related fields. The role focuses on advancing quantum computing systems, including hardware and firmware development, while providing opportunities to learn and apply new quantum engineering techniques. Interns will engage in corporate events and manage their time effectively while contributing to the development of cutting-edge quantum technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the development of quantum computing systems including hardware, firmware, and superconducting qubits.
  • Learn new quantum engineering techniques and incorporate them into work processes.
  • Participate in corporate events and executive speaker series.
  • Showcase effective time management.

Requirements

  • Experience in a graduate or undergraduate program in engineering, quantum computing, physics, or a related field.
  • Engineering experience in hardware development, firmware development, superconducting qubits, cryoelectronic circuit design, quantum microwave engineering, or materials science.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with microelectronics materials and process integration.
  • Experience with fabrication processes for quantum computing applications.
  • Experience in analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital integrated circuit design.
  • Experience with relevant development tools, including Cadence, Mentor, ADS, HFSS, and other industry standard tools.
