About the position

The Quantum Technology Research Manager at the University of New Mexico will oversee and manage two academic research training programs focused on quantum technology. This role involves organizing meetings, liaising with external partners, reporting to funding agencies, and advising students. The manager will also have opportunities to engage in quantum-related research and mentor junior scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Quantum Photonics and Quantum Technology graduate program (QPAQT) and the Quantum Undergraduate Research Experience at CHTM (QU-REACH).
  • Organize faculty and collaborators meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison for program evaluation and external partnerships with companies and national labs.
  • Report to funding agencies.
  • Recruit and advise students, managing applications and admissions.
  • Maintain websites and oversee day-to-day program communications.
  • Organize a weekly seminar and develop modules on topics such as science communication.
  • Collaborate in quantum-related research projects and participate in entrepreneurial and economic development efforts.
  • Mentor junior scientists in the field.

Requirements

  • Masters in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a variety of academic educational and research programs.
  • Competence and interest in working with students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Supervisory experience of students.
  • Record of strong scholarship in a research area related to quantum technology.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $56,264 - $80,517 annually.
