About the position

The R & D Engineer - Chemical Engineer position at Idaho National Laboratory involves contributing to the development of nuclear fuel cycle solutions. The role focuses on innovative technologies for chemical separations, material recovery, and waste management, supporting advanced nuclear energy concepts. The position requires research and engineering tasks related to chemical processes, modeling, and experimentation in a high-temperature molten salt environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to nuclear fuel cycle design and development activities, focusing on radiochemistry and material recovery.
  • Publish work in customer-required reports and peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare, peer review, and deliver program plans and presentations related to INL spent fuel programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field, or a Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, requiring US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in chemical separation technologies and equipment.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation of chemical processes.
  • Knowledge of solvent extraction pilot plant operations.
