About the position
The R D Engineer - Controls position at ABB focuses on leading the development of the Enclosed Controls product line. This role requires strong leadership skills and experience in design, quality, safety, compliance, and new product development. The engineer will manage a team of contracted resources and ensure the successful execution of product introduction programs while adhering to scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of contracted resources to execute deliverables and milestones for a new product introduction program.
- Design, develop, analyze, and document product designs that meet functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
- Execute designs using solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs.
- Support manufacturing implementation of products through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Develop and execute test plans including prototype design and assembly and root cause analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD Software design, modeling, and Bills of Materials.
- Familiarity with mechanical design for mechanisms, thermal, and structural performance.
- Proven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues.
- Experience leading teams and managing design projects.
