About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at Glaukos Corporation involves performing a variety of engineering activities related to ocular products, focusing on early development, clinical builds, and manufacturing scale-up. The role requires developing creative solutions to design and manufacturing challenges, generating engineering deliverables, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards. The engineer will work on ophthalmic products, particularly in pharmaceutical projects, and will be responsible for applying mechanical engineering principles to solve complex problems throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative solutions to design and manufacturing problems.
  • Generate 3D CAD models and 2D CAD drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Create test procedures and engineering documentation including test protocols and reports.
  • Assist in the development of ophthalmic products with a focus on pharmaceutical projects and packaging design.
  • Contribute to the development of new designs and manufacturing processes from concept to production release.
  • Review key study documents produced by other functions, such as protocols and statistical analysis plans.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to solve complex product development and manufacturing problems.
  • Ensure compliance with company standard practices and specifications.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of engineering work experience, preferably in medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with ocular products is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and ISO regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to fabricate assemblies under a microscope.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks for part, assembly, and drawing generation.

  • Ability to interact with all departments effectively.
  • Experience in vendor coordination.
