About the position

The R D Engineering Intern position at Eden GeoPower involves assisting in the development of sustainable underground energy extraction technologies. The intern will engage in various tasks including experimental design, data collection, and equipment design, contributing to innovative solutions that address environmental challenges in energy extraction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with designing experiments to evaluate scientific hypotheses.
• Define processes to conduct experiments and fabricate parts for experimental setups.
• Assist with equipment design, data acquisition, and control systems.
• Conduct data collection, visualization, and analysis.
• Support software development in the laboratory, including data acquisition and instrumentation control.
• Prepare reports and presentations for projects as needed.

Requirements

• Enrolled senior, recent graduate, or graduate student in Civil-Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or a related field.
• Familiarity with equipment design, fabrication, and troubleshooting.
• Expertise with CAD/CAM software (Solidworks, Fusion360, AutoCAD preferred).
• Experience with data acquisition and control systems (hardware and software).
• Good/Advanced programming skills in Matlab/Python; LabView and C++ are a bonus.
• Proficient in fundamental engineering theories, principles, and calculations.
• Hands-on lab experience with flow, heat, electricity, and stress measurements.
• Knowledge or prior experience in geomechanical testing including triaxial systems, permeability measurements, and rock mechanics.
• Excellent written and presentation skills, initiative, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with mechatronics is a plus.
• Prior experience in geomechanical testing is preferred.
