About the position

The R D Post License Scientist at Medgene Labs is responsible for conducting vaccine research and development projects aimed at addressing various diseases in livestock. This role involves performing experiments, developing immunological assays, and collaborating with other teams within the R D department. The scientist will work under the supervision of the R D Post License Manager and is expected to maintain high standards of accuracy and integrity in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments and tasks in support of R D projects involving vaccine research.
  • Process clinical samples according to protocol with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments according to written methods with appropriate supervision.
  • Design and execute experiments with varying levels of supervision based on experience.
  • Perform data analysis, troubleshooting, and data presentation.
  • Conduct basic microscopy and utilize software for specific tasks.
  • Follow detailed instructions, scientific protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory documents and logs following ALCOA+ principles.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental and laboratory policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Train other scientists as appropriate for their knowledge and skill level.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance and upkeep, including cleaning and waste disposal.
  • Conduct literature searches to improve current assays and techniques.
  • Coordinate with various teams within and external to R D.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, virology, molecular biology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of general laboratory principles and equipment.
  • Understanding of biosafety (BSL1 / BSL2) and biosecurity practices.
  • Familiarity with immunological methods and techniques involving live and inactivated cultures.
  • Experience with cell culture methods, including cryopreservation.
  • Knowledge of viral and bacterial propagation techniques and identification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
