About the position

The Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed product designs, collaborating with team members, and ensuring that all safety standards are met during the design process. This role emphasizes customer interaction and technical collaboration, focusing on research and development within hydraulic and consumer industries. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset to drive product innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Creates a detailed design of the product using CAD software
  • Meets with other engineers to discuss designs and brainstorm solutions
  • Provides engineering guidance to team members
  • Ensures safety standards are met during the design process
  • Works with suppliers to ensure materials meet industry standards
  • Identifies potential design flaws and provides solutions
  • Conducts research on new technologies impacting product design
  • Develops computer models to test designs
  • Builds prototypes and testing apparatuses
  • Develops data-driven results to evaluate projects
  • Maintains records of design decisions
  • Collaborates with designers and engineers to complete projects on time
  • Supports projects from concept phase through launch
  • Meets with stakeholders to assess feedback on projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
  • Skilled in research and development, design management, problem solving, project management, and product design
  • Experienced in CAD and SOLIDWORKS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with database systems is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • High level of integrity and dependability
  • Self-motivated with a 'fail fast' engineering mentality
  • Experience bringing products to market in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong initiative and drive to identify and fill gaps
