About the position

The R&D Software Developer position at the Applied Research Laboratories focuses on the research and development of signal processing algorithms specifically for sonar and underwater acoustics. The role involves algorithm implementation, verification, and performance analysis within the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL). The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and verifying algorithms in both real and non-real configurations, analyzing high-frequency sonar data, and developing signal and detection processing algorithms. Additionally, the position requires thorough documentation and presentation of the work performed, along with other related functions as assigned. This position is critical in advancing the laboratory's capabilities in underwater acoustics and sonar technology. The developer will work closely with a team of engineers and researchers to ensure that the algorithms meet the required specifications and performance standards. The role demands a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work under pressure, as the developer will be tasked with solving complex problems and delivering results in a timely manner. The environment is collaborative, and the developer will be expected to contribute to team discussions and share insights from their work. The position is expected to continue indefinitely, with an immediate start date available for the right candidate. The work environment is primarily office-based, with some potential for travel related to project needs. The developer will also be required to engage in repetitive tasks such as using a keyboard and may need to work during weekends, evenings, or holidays as project demands dictate.
