About the position

The R&D System Applications Engineer at Broadcom is responsible for supporting the integration and maintenance of enterprise-level products, specifically focusing on PCIe switch products. This role involves collaborating with OEMs/ODMs, Field Application Engineers, and internal design teams to launch new products and resolve technical issues efficiently. The engineer will provide guidance to customers, develop product documentation, and enhance customer satisfaction through improved debugging processes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, debug, and root cause issues found within Broadcom's PCIe switch products.
  • Provide guidance to OEM and Cloud customers on integrating Broadcom's PCIe switch products into various platforms.
  • Develop product documentation for customer implementation of PCIe switch products.
  • Train Field Applications Engineers, Sales Engineers, and support staff on product features.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve debug efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to provide value to mutual customers.
  • Occasional travel, some of which may be international.

Requirements

  • Experience with firmware, software, hardware, and PCIe protocol level debug.
  • Experience developing and debugging C code.
  • Prior experience in embedded software debug or development using PCIe technology.
  • Experience reading board schematics and layout files.
  • Skilled at debugging and analyzing high-speed analog signals.
  • Self-motivated and a strong self-driven learner.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple parallel tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NIC, SAS/SATA protocols, RAID, ARM or PPC embedded processors.
  • Ability to perform SMD/SMT soldering and rework.
  • Presentation skills.
