About the position

The R D Systems Engineer at Cepheid is responsible for the design, development, verification, and validation of hardware, software, and assay interoperability for diagnostic platforms. This hands-on role involves collaboration with various engineering disciplines to ensure system performance requirements are met, while also planning and executing laboratory experiments to support R D Engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with various engineering and support teams to deliver system-level instrumentation platforms.
• Design and execute complex test methods to assess hardware and system performance according to Design Input Requirements.
• Analyze complex data using statistical methods and provide reports to senior management.
• Maintain an internal knowledge base of product hardware, software, and design performance history.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and facilitate technical problem solving with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain organized documentation of activities and provide regular updates on progress and solutions.

Requirements

• Demonstrated basic laboratory skills, including pipetting and reagent handling techniques.
• Experience working with PCR or other nucleic acid amplification techniques.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineers and scientists.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a medical device or biotechnology company.
• Experience troubleshooting complex instrumentation with cross-functional expertise.
• Statistics knowledge, including proficiency in Excel for data analysis and presentation.
