The R&D Technical Writer position at Kelly Services is an individual contributor role based in Portage, Michigan, requiring a professional with expertise in technical writing and documentation. In this position, the Technical Writer will also assist in routing documentation through the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, which involves obtaining necessary approvals and verifying system attributes. Effective planning and management of timelines for all aspects of technical documents are essential to ensure that projects are completed on schedule. The role demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to adhere to established guidelines and standards for documentation, ensuring clarity and compliance throughout the documentation process. This is a contract position lasting 16 months, with the possibility of extension or internal hire. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship, as this role does not offer such support. The position is onsite, emphasizing the need for collaboration and direct communication with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the timely development, modification, and obsolescence of quality system documentation, including guidance documentation, forms, and training plans.
  • May assist in routing documentation in PLM system, including obtaining approvals and verifying system attributes.
  • Oversees and adheres to guidance of formats and standards for documentation.
  • Ensures effective planning and management of timelines for all aspects of technical documents.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical writing and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of quality system documentation processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using PLM systems for documentation routing and approval.

  • Experience with engineering or technical documentation in a research and development environment.
