About the position

The R&D Technician position at an international automotive parts manufacturer in Novi, MI, is designed for individuals looking to leverage their manufacturing and technical skills in a dynamic environment. This entry-level role involves setting up and operating specialized test equipment, troubleshooting components, and collaborating with engineers and mechanics to ensure optimal performance of automotive parts.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates specialized test equipment to diagnose, test, and analyze the performance of engines and accessory units.
• Troubleshoots and adjusts components on parts and accessories during the testing process.
• Liaisons with engineers, mechanics, and inspectors on test performance.
• Documents and maintains records of testing and performance results.
• Keeps the shop floor area clean and organized.
• Maintains and organizes tools, equipment, and manuals.
• Researches technical manuals of particular vehicles to increase efficiency.
• Keeps abreast of technical updates and improvements relevant to the job.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned by upper management.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Mechanical technology or automotive technology field preferred.
• High school diploma is a must.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of hydraulic testing experience.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of mechanical background.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work on the day shift and flexibility to work on the 2nd shift occasionally as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with programmable logic controllers (1 year preferred).
