About the position

The RTR Accounting Manager at Warner Bros. Discovery will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management of the General Ledger related to worldwide publishing and licensing operations. This position reports to the Executive Director of Studio Controllership and involves a variety of responsibilities including agent commission calculation, financial close activities, and audit support. The RTR Accounting Manager will utilize various systems such as Alfred, Oracle, LMSi, SAP, and Tableau, along with advanced Excel worksheets, to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. In this role, the manager will oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring that all financial statements are accurate and adhere to GAAP. This includes reviewing trial balances, making necessary journal entries, and managing the ingestion of actual sales data into the Alfred system. The RTR Accounting Manager will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial reports, including footnotes and balance sheet analysis, and will track royalty accounting related to sub-rights business. Collaboration is key in this position, as the RTR Accounting Manager will interact with various stakeholders including business unit operations, third-party licensees, auditors, and the shared services team in India. The role requires a proactive approach to process improvements and standardization, as well as support for technology upgrades in partnership with the business unit. Additionally, the manager will provide training to internal teams and assist with ad hoc projects for senior management, ensuring that all deliverables are met in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end close activities including trial balance review and journal entry adjustments.
  • Analyze and review financials on a global business level to ensure consistency.
  • Prepare journal entries that impact the Company's financial statements using independent judgment.
  • Ensure GAAP and control are implemented and adhered to for respective business units.
  • Establish and ensure timeliness of overall monthly close activities and accuracy of close processes.
  • Deliver quarterly reports to the Consolidation Financial Reporting Team.
  • Track the collection of statements and manage revenue recognition for royalty accounting.
  • Interact with business unit operations and third parties to provide accurate and timely information.
  • Prepare agent commission statements and support audit activities related to DCE processes.
  • Assist in enhancements and testing of financial systems to improve operations.
  • Provide training to internal teams and identify improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • 2-3 years of prior management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university.
  • CPA or local equivalent of Certified Accountant preferred.
  • Prior RTR accounting experience required.
  • SAP experience is a must, along with experience in other ERPs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with intermediate to advanced skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Experience in leading collaborative and goal-oriented teams.
