About the position

The Rad Tech I position at Haywood Regional Medical Center involves performing imaging procedures, educating patients about the processes, and ensuring the quality of imaging results. The role requires critical thinking and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, while also monitoring patient conditions and adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for imaging procedures.
  • Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Position patients and perform imaging procedures.
  • Analyze results and identify issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
  • Enter, transmit, and report scan results.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved course in Radiologic Technology.
  • Hospital training during two years of approved Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices is highly desirable.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible.
  • Active membership in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
