Radiation Test Engineers are responsible for testing piece parts in support of larger SEAKR programs and future development plans. SEAKR uses Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) parts in various space applications with high reliability and performance records. The Radiation Test Engineer will test both analog and digital parts of various complexities for both long term and instantaneous effects using radiation requirements from various programs. These radiation tests require recreating key features of radiation effects using various labs and facilities for electronic component characteristics with an understanding of the application specific use of that component in the program. Radiation Test Engineers must understand the effects of a radiation environment on those characteristics, as well as Single Event Effects, and Prompt Dose effects. The Radiation Test Engineer will assist in development of statements of work, designing test boards, writing test plans, and performing testing in a radiation environment. The Engineer will also extract data from the part, perform the test report, and deliver the data. Testing commonly requires the development and modification of software coding to assist in timely interface with the test solutions, along with software development for tools needed to improve practices and team efficiency.
