About the position

The Radiation Therapist position at MemorialCare involves delivering high-quality radiation therapy treatments to patients under the supervision of the Radiation Oncology leadership team. This role requires a thorough understanding of human anatomy, radiation physics, and the psychological aspects of cancer treatment. The therapist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure accurate treatment delivery and optimal patient care, while adhering to departmental policies and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT scan and clinical based simulations for radiation therapy treatments.
• Construct and utilize treatment aides and immobilization devices as per physician orders.
• Safely operate the CT simulator to produce quality images for radiation treatment procedures.
• Deliver radiation treatments with precision according to physician orders.
• Operate treatment machines and imaging modalities while adhering to radiation safety rules.
• Document treatments and procedures in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with health team members regarding patients' treatment plans and outcomes.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare team members to achieve desired goals and outcomes.
• Participate in performance improvement efforts within the radiation oncology service.
• Serve as a preceptor and role model for new personnel and students.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.
• Active license from the State of California as a Radiation Therapist (Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technology - ARRT).
• Current certification for Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
