About the position

The Radiation Therapy Technologist 3 at UHealth Plantation is responsible for simulating and administering radiation treatment to patients as prescribed by physicians. This role involves monitoring patients' physical conditions, providing emotional support, and overseeing the work of radiation therapists to ensure accuracy and productivity in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Administers doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment as prescribed by the physician.
  • Positions patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription.
  • Reviews prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification.
  • Maintains records, reports, and files as required, including radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
  • Observes the patient's clinical progress and reports any signs of complications.
  • Follows principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.
  • Operates computerized simulation and treatment machines safely and effectively, performing daily safety checks.
  • Constructs immobilization devices and employs custom blocking techniques for conformal radiation therapy.
  • Utilizes imaging equipment and treatment planning systems for precise tumor localization.
  • Works closely with the Radiation Oncologist and therapy team to prepare customized treatment plans.
  • Collaborates with Radiation Oncology and external services for patient care coordination.
  • Performs simulations according to physician's orders and coordinates scheduling of treatments.
  • Acts as a resource therapist for staff members and troubleshoots technological equipment.
  • Assists in the inventory and management of technical supplies.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a relevant field.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Accreditation.
  • Florida Radiation Therapy license.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
