About the position
The Radio/Communications Technician position involves performing a variety of technical tasks related to the installation, repair, programming, and maintenance of integrated in-vehicle communication equipment for the State of Michigan. This role is based in Lansing, MI, and requires close supervision while handling equipment such as two-way radios, computers, and other electronic devices used by state agencies.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and program integrated in-vehicle equipment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on communication devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electronic equipment.
- Assist in the setup and configuration of wireless accessories and other related technology.
Requirements
- Possession of an associate's degree in electronic technology.
- For Radio/Communications Technician 9: One year of experience equivalent to a Radio/Communications Technician 8.
- For Radio/Communications Technician E10: Two years of experience equivalent to Radio/Communications Technician, including one year equivalent to a Radio/Communications Technician 9.
- Equivalent military service or trade/technical school training may be considered.
Nice-to-haves
