About the position

The Radio Frequency (RF) Project Engineer - Senior at Astrion is responsible for leading the design, development, and support of RF test equipment and systems. This role involves managing test teams, developing technical documentation, and interfacing with program offices to create engineering solutions. The position requires a strong technical background in RF systems and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The engineer will also be involved in travel to contractors' facilities and test sites as part of their responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with design, development, and support of test equipment and systems.
  • Learn the lab's mission and infrastructure technologies.
  • Develop and maintain Radio Frequency (RF) test support systems.
  • Lead a team of Test Engineers with the design and development of test architectures and solutions.
  • Develop technical documentation to gather data on which systems will be designed and supported.
  • Interface with program offices in developing engineering solutions.
  • Manage test teams with integration of engineered solutions into test plans, concept of operations, test cards, data-analysis plans, and formal reports.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and continuity databases for engineering solutions.
  • Develop and manage test plans and procedures, schedules, execute a test within the constraints of customer requirements, and produce timely test reports.
  • Develop and present briefings to test community, program office and senior-level personnel on proposed or operational engineered solutions.
  • Travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations.
  • Capable of performing as a team leader in directing and executing system testing.
  • Support any additional activities as assigned by TGBC leadership.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a technical field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance within 60 days of employment.
  • Education or experience in RF signal propagation, transmission, and reception theory, principles, concepts, and application.
  • Superior organization, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent self-initiative and self-motivation.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
  • Strong work ethic; Comfortable working in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of digital data RF systems and their employment.
  • Some engineering experience from internships, directed studies or regular employment.
  • Possess a current and active Top Secret security clearance.
