About the position

The Radio Systems Manager at the Massachusetts Port Authority is responsible for overseeing the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Public Safety Communications systems. This role requires advanced technical proficiency, strong leadership, and effective communication skills to manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of communication systems that support public safety and emergency response efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure oversight of the administration, maintenance, and service of the Authority's Public Safety Communications environment.
  • Ensure systems run efficiently, optimized, and utilized correctly.
  • Interface with all Authority Operating units to meet their radiocommunications needs.
  • Manage representation and communication with stakeholders including Motorola, FCC, partner agencies, and vendors for policy, issue resolution, and emergency communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years' experience in systems maintenance, operations, end-user support, with expert-level knowledge of 800MHz trunked and conventional radio technology.
  • Current and valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in datacommunications protocols, IBM compatible PCs, common peripherals, and Motorola systems (XTS/XTL/APX radios, CPS, UASI radios), with expertise in 800 MHz trunked system configuration.
