The Radiologic Tech II position at Emory Healthcare involves operating radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs (x-rays) of the body. The role includes performing routine and complex radiographic procedures, providing guidance to lower-level technologists and students, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures. The technician is responsible for maintaining high-quality imaging standards, assisting in training, and participating in quality assurance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs for diagnostic purposes.
  • Performs routine, portable, operating room, and fluoroscopic exams.
  • Provides guidance to lower-level Radiologic Technologists and students.
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment to produce high-quality x-rays.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Assists in training radiology staff and students.
  • Participates in radiology quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Completes patient care documentation following established procedures.
  • Ensures patients are prepared for procedures and assists with patient education.
  • Anticipates potential patient crises during radiologic procedures.
  • Cleans equipment and stocks procedure rooms.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and advises supervisor of malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a related field.
